Backyard Persimmons: Tequila, Lemon, Cardamom, Persimmons

persimmon lemon tequila pueblo viejo cocktail

This post is brought to you as part of a partnership with Tequila Pueblo Viejo!

The other day I received a couple bottles of tequila from Pueblo Viejo, a family-owned tequila focused on living in the moment while celebrating its cultural heritage. I felt really inspired by their commitment to their roots while embracing the contemporary American lifestyle and I wanted to make a drink that included a bit of my heritage to create a bit of a cultural cocktail. For the drink below I added some persimmons, my favorite Indiana flavor, and used my NYC scarf as a backdrop!

Prep Time 10 minutes
Servings 1

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Pueblo Viejo tequila
  • 1 oz lemon juice
  • .75 oz simple syrup
  • 1/4 persimmon, muddled
  • 3 cardamom pods, muddled

Instructions

  1. Add the persimmon and cardamom pods with the tequila. Muddle until you have a relatively consistent pulp at the bottom of your shaker. Strain out solids with a fine mesh strainer and discard.
