This time of year I’m always looking for an excuse to harvest anything from my teenage balcony garden. The rule I’ve got is to only grow edible flowers, herbs, strawberries, and veggies. I found this drink in the May/June issue of Imbibe and thought it was really interesting and would be a good chance to use my oregano for something other than savory dishes.
🌱 Herb Alpert 🌱
- 1 oz mezcal
- 1 oz jalepeño-infused tequila
- 1 oz lime juice
- .5 oz simple syrup
- 8 leaves fresh oregano
To make the Herb Alpert, I lightly muddled 7 leaves of oregano, put all other ingredients in a shaker with ice, shook, and served in a coupe glass garnished with the last oregano leaf and a pepper. A smokey, herbal margarita cousin!
