I’ve got this giant metal bucket of basil on my balcony growing in that summer sweet spot right now. It’s unruly and ambitious enough in its growth that I am eating basil at almost every meal, but not crazy enough that I come out in the mornings and find those dreaded basil flowers. (When they flower the basil is shutting down its growth mode and switching to reproductive mode. Growth mode is better for pesto! :)) Definition of a perfect summer day: caprese poached eggs at breakfast, Mediterranean salad with basil for lunch, basil green curry for dinner, basil gin and tonics for cocktail hour. 😎 One time I even tried to ambitiously make a salad out of basil… It was one of those rare times where I’ve told myself that I’ve gone too far with the flavor. 😛

🌱☀️Endless Summer Basil Gin and Tonic ☀️🌱
- 1 oz lime juice
- 1 sprig basil
- 1.5 oz gin
- Top with tonic
Muddle basil in gin, add lime juice, and shake. Pour in a highball with ice, top with good tonic!
